History of Orlando

Originally a small settlement named Jernigan, Orlando was renamed in 1857, likely after a soldier killed in the Seminole Wars. The city grew as a citrus hub in the late 19th century, but its modern identity was shaped by the opening of Walt Disney World in 1971. This sparked a tourism boom, attracting Universal Studios, SeaWorld, and other attractions, transforming Orlando into a global entertainment destination.

Today, Orlando continues to expand, blending its theme park fame with a growing tech and cultural scene.
