History of Vancouver

Vancouver was originally home to the Coast Salish peoples, including the Squamish, Musqueam, and Tsleil-Waututh Nations. European exploration began in the late 18th century, with the city officially founded in 1886. Named after Captain George Vancouver, the city grew rapidly due to its port and the arrival of the Canadian Pacific Railway.

In the 20th century, Vancouver became a hub for trade, film production, and tourism. Events like Expo 86 and the 2010 Winter Olympics showcased its global appeal. Today, Vancouver is celebrated for its sustainability efforts and multicultural vibrancy.
