Built around 1450 during the height of the Inca Empire, Machu Picchu is believed to have been a royal estate or sacred retreat. Abandoned a century later during the Spanish conquest, it remained hidden until rediscovered by Hiram Bingham in 1911. Its precise stonework and remote location continue to captivate researchers and visitors.

Today, Machu Picchu stands as a testament to Incan engineering and culture, offering glimpses into a civilization that thrived in harmony with its environment.
